In alignment with everything we think and do, our community focus is on creating a place to foster social belonging.

We provide healthy meals and welcoming spaces for the marginalized and lonely to come to the table and into the kitchen. Soulkitchen partners with More Than a Roof Housing Society, a group which develops and manages inclusive communities of affordable housing for those affected by low income, mental illness or addiction.

At present we serve between 150 to 200 meals per week to the residents with the More Than a Roof buildings in the downtown core. Hannes uses the help of the tenants to prepare and serve the food and trains up many volunteers in kitchen skills, working together techniques and basic life skills.  The results are healthy communities, the building of strong friendships and equipping the poor to get ahead in our society.

We are so thankful for the partnership with IGA Marketplace on Robson, Earls Test Kitchen, D-Original Sausage Company and Terra Breads Olympic Village.   We continue to share resources and ideas with local churches - in particular, First Baptist Church, Artisan and Westside.  We provide meals for churches who do not have adequate facilities or need extra support to do so for their community outreach programs.

PERHAPS OUR FAVOURITE PART OF THE WORK IS THE OPPORTUNITY WE HAVE TO HELP THOSE LIVING ON THE MARGINS TO FIND CONFIDENCE, MANAGE MONEY, FIND FRIENDS AND BECOME BETTER EQUIPPED TO LIVE WELL IN THE LOCAL COMMUNITY. WE ENJOY HELPING PEOPLE OUT THROUGH AN AUTHENTIC FRIENDSHIP AND BY PROVIDING OPPORTUNITIES TO LEARN NEW SKILLS AND TAKE ON MORE RESPONSIBILITIES.

Stay tuned for our new workshop material - F.E.E.D - it works!  It's FEEDworks making impact in lives.
